How to Have Wrinkle-Free, Younger-Looking Skin Starting Today
Everyone after a certain age tends to have wrinkles and fine lines, and it’s a natural part of ageing – there’s no reason to be ashamed of it! We all have it, and women (and men) in their 40s or even 30s will begin to develop those fine lines around the mouth, eyes, forehead, and so on. But what if you can delay the ageing process – and sometimes even stop it altogether? We will all grow old eventually – but it doesn’t mean we should just sit back and let it happen. On the contrary, you can still do some things to delay ageing, and some just takes common sense. Do you want to have wrinkle-free, younger-looking skin? Here’s how.
- Protect your skin from the sun’s rays
Everyone knows that the rays of the sun can damage the skin. It may not be apparent yet, but over time, your skin may begin to dry out and look dehydrated (and develop more wrinkles) just because of too much sun exposure. Yes, that tan looks good – but your skin will pay for it when you get older if it isn’t paying for it already!
In a study done in 2013, it was found that regularly applying sunscreen can protect your skin and slow down the ageing process. To fully protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays, it’s important to use sunscreen with 30 to 50 SPF daily. And to protect you even more, wear sunglasses, a hat with a wide brim, and clothes with light colours that reflect the sun’s rays instead of absorbing them.
- Make use of retinoids
Another way to effectively delay the signs of ageing is to use retinoids. Retinoids are a compound from vitamin A known for increasing the amount of collagen in our skin, making it look fuller and plumper. In addition, retinoids, or retinol, as it is also known, encourage the skin to regenerate and create blood vessels, enhancing the skin’s texture and appearance. Different kinds of retinoids have different potency levels, and you can easily buy these over the counter or with a doctor’s prescription.
On a side note, you can always go for anti wrinkle injections, which are very effective at reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It gives your skin an instant glow, unlike retinoids, which can take a while before you see the results. What’s more, these injections have naturally occurring ingredients and are completely safe and effective.
- Drink plenty of fluids
Drinking plenty of water and other liquids isn’t just good for your health – it’s also an excellent way to stay as hydrated as possible. Whilst the liquid works by flushing all the toxins in your body, water will also maintain your skin’s health and refresh and rejuvenate it from the inside.
Some scientists have even found water to have a possible effect on the physiology of the skin, and when the skin is more hydrated, it gives it a healthier glow.
- Moisturise!
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again – moisturise! When you apply a moisturiser to your face, it’s akin to giving your face water. Moisturisers can hydrate and nourish the skin, and it’s even more important to moisturise as you age. Look for moisturisers with high levels of vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, which are excellent antioxidants.
