Questions to Ask a Potential Rehab Centre

Thinking of going to rehab? Here are some questions you should ask to find the best one.

If you are suffering from an addiction, the chances are that you have thought about going to rehab. Rehab clinics exist specifically to aid us in recovery from drink and drug addictions. They condense treatment plans down and to 28 days or less, allowing us to get a good grip on our addiction all in one go. However, choosing the correct rehab clinic for you can be difficult.

If you have never been to rehab before and you don’t know what to expect, choosing the correct one is nearly impossible. How do you know what to choose if you don’t know what to expect? Here are some questions you can ask a potential rehab clinic to help you find the place.

Questions You Should Ask Before You Sign into Rehab.

Before you rush off and sign up for a rehab clinic near you, here are some of the things you should keep in mind.

1 – Do you work with rehab selection services?

Rehab clinics in England and Wales typically worked with rehab selection services. These services ask you a series of different questions, all aimed at finding you the best choice in rehab in your area. Have a look at for a good example of how this works. If your rehab clinic of choice doesn’t work with rehab selection services, this is a strong indication that they’re maybe not as good as they said.

2 – How many therapy sessions will I get a week?

In any given rehab programme, you should expect to see your group at least twice a week, but preferably more. Industry standard is 3 sessions with your group a week. You can also expect to see a one on one counsellor at least once a week. If you are staying for 28 days, therapy should take place at least four times between you and a specialist therapist. Any less than this isn’t good enough.

3 – What’s your focus?

Different rehab clinics tend to focus on different things. In our experience with rehab clinics, we have come across those which focus on art therapy, those which use animals to help you in treatment, and those that focus on exercise to take your mind off addiction. Ask your rehab clinic what their focus is to see if it’s something that you enjoy. Try to match a rehab clinic with what you need most.

4 – How many clients do you see at once?

This is a difficult balance. You don’t want to go to a rehab clinic which only sees one or two clients at a time because your group therapy sessions won’t be large enough. On the other hand. You don’t want to go to rehab clinic which has so many participants in the programmes that you are not heard. Somewhere around 20 or 30 people at a time is a suitable number of rehab participants.

The right rehab clinic is out there

Don’t give up hope. Rehab selection services are excellent for helping you choose. The closer the rehab clinic is to your wants and needs, the better chance you have of coming off drink or drugs the first time. Although you shouldn’t be ashamed if you need to go back and try again.
